Qualification-legitimacy considerations follow ASQA cancellation

The registration of SPES Education Pty Ltd (RTO 46018) has been cancelled by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), with the cancellation taking effect from 17 May 2025 — and published on the National Register. ASQA’s decision to cancel SPES Education’s registration was based on findings during a compliance investigation.

The compliance investigation found that “SPES Education Pty Ltd did not meet the conditions of registration, including Fit and Proper Person and Financial Viability Requirements; had issued qualifications without adequate assessment; and/or did not ensure impacted individuals had successfully satisfied all requirements prior to issuing VET certification”.

Impacted qualifications

Among the qualifications impacted were Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021) and Certificate IV in Ageing Support (CHC43015) — issued by SPES Education Pty Ltd during the period 8 January 2024 to 17 May 2025.

ASQA stated: “Given the significant issues identified during the compliance investigation and the potential safety risks to impacted individuals, others in the workplace, and some of the most vulnerable members of the community, urgent action is required by ASQA to consider the legitimacy of the qualifications.”

It is not only aged care qualifications that are impacted. The codes of other SPES Education-issued qualifications impacted by this cancellation are: CHC30121, CHC43121, CHC50121, CHC52021, CHC62015, ICT40120, ICT50220 and ICT60220.

Next steps

ASQA said that based on the findings during the compliance investigation, it is now commencing a process to issue notices of intent to cancel qualifications issued by SPES Education Pty Ltd between 8 January 2024 and 17 May 2025.

Impacted individuals are invited in the Notice of Intent to provide a written response no later than 7 pm AEST on the date specified in the notice, ASQA advised. If you received a Notice of Intent, you should respond by the date in the notice.

ASQA also advised that if you did not receive a Notice of Intent and you think your qualification might be impacted, you should contact ASQA on 1300 701 801 (from outside Australia, dial +61 3 9613 3910).
