Scalabrini hosts three Taiwanese nursing students

Scalabrini has hosted three Taiwanese nursing students at its Drummoyne village. The students are participating in the Comprehensive Clinical Internship for Nursing, which is designed to provide fourth- and fifth-year nursing students with hands-on clinical experience in an international setting.

Arriving on 4 August, the students commenced a four-week clinical internship aimed at giving them an in-depth understanding of Australian health care and long-term care systems; the roles and responsibilities of Australian healthcare professionals; cultural diversity in healthcare settings; and professional English communication in a clinical context.

“The students have added such wonderful insight and care to our residents and in the process, Scalabrini is keeping abreast with international trends and practice,” Scalabrini CEO Richard de Haast said. “It also creates a pathway for these and other students from the Chung-Jen Junior College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Management to return to work with us after completing their studies and accessing our structured migration pathways through Scalabrini’s Labour Agreement.”

Travelling with the students to lead them in their studies was Dr Chi-Ling Wu, RN, PhD — Assistant Professor of the nursing department at Chung-Jen Junior College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Management. “I am delighted that our students have the chance to gain such valuable clinical and cultural experience at Scalabrini,” Wu said.

“This program allows them to deepen their nursing knowledge, strengthen their professional English, and appreciate the importance of compassion and cultural understanding in aged-care practice. We are grateful for this partnership, which not only enriches our students’ education but also builds meaningful connections between Taiwan and Australia.”
