Greenslopes hospital nurse charged with two counts of rape

In Queensland, following investigations into two alleged incidents in Brisbane’s south, detectives from the Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a man with two counts of rape.

It will be alleged that on 7 January 2020 and 28 December 2024, at a Greenslopes hospital during the course of his duties as a nurse, the 41-year-old Riverhills man committed offences against two women aged in their 80s.

Following extensive investigations, on 5 November — shortly before 9 am — detectives attended a Riverhills address and arrested the man. He is expected to reappear before Richland Magistrates Court on 24 November.

“Crimes of this nature are a reprehensible breach of trust and police have zero tolerance for any person who commits such heinous criminal acts,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Rodney Watts, Dutton Park CIB Officer in Charge.

“I acknowledge the incredible bravery of the victim-survivors who come forward.

“Police recognise that experiencing then reporting offences of this nature can be incredibly difficult. It is something no person should ever have to experience.

“I want to reassure victim-survivors that you are not alone, and that there are support services available to you.

“We encourage anyone who has information to provide in relation to this investigation to come forward directly to us or anonymously to Crime Stoppers.”

Investigations are ongoing and police are providing support to those involved.
