Annecto to cease all community services in July

Annecto, which has provided community service across the ACT, Queensland, NSW and Victoria for 70 years, has announced that its aged care and disability services will cease in July. “This decision was not made lightly”, Annecto Chair Colleen Furlanetto OAM said. “We deeply appreciate the support of our community over all these years, and the dedication of our staff and partners to high quality of support standards.”

Its focus now, Annecto said in a statement, is “working to transition our customers and services to other trusted providers who can continue delivering the support and assistance our customers expect and deserve”.

Annecto said more than 3000 older adults, people with disabilities and members of the veteran community receive their support to live independently and stay connected; the decision to cease community services followed careful deliberation and extensive stakeholder consultation, which considered the financial challenges facing the organisation into the future and service model shifts.

Annecto said that it “remains committed” to its customers and staff during this time and to compliance and ethical service delivery — “ensuring our transition process aligns with customer, employee and regulatory expectations and prioritises customer welfare, particularly those with high support needs”.

“We are working closely with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, the National Disability Insurance Agency, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and other key stakeholders to ensure the seamless transition of our customers and staff to trusted and quality accredited providers,” Annecto’s statement read.

“Above all”, Furlanetto said as a summary of Annecto’s ‘sentiment’, “we want to acknowledge the trust placed in Annecto over seven decades. From our founding families to our broader community, your support has shaped an organisation built on inclusion and advocacy. As we approach this next chapter, we do so with the same spirit that inspired Annecto’s beginnings — ensuring that every person has access to the support they need, delivered with dignity and respect.”
