Monday 15 September is the start of Dementia Action Week
Monday, 15 September is the start of Dementia Action Week 2025, which runs to Sunday, 21 September and includes World Alzheimer’s Day on the 21st.
‘Nobody can do it alone’ is this year’s theme, Dementia Australia announced, with a call to action challenging everyone in the community to reach out and reconnect to someone impacted by dementia.
“Dementia doesn’t just impact the person living with the condition and their immediate carers; it also impacts their family, friends and wider social network,” Dementia Australia said.
“People living with dementia tell us that friends and family often drop away, not knowing how to interact with them once they have a diagnosis — leading to social isolation and loneliness.”
It is estimated that there are 433,300 Australians living with dementia, with 1.7 million people involved in their care.
